The Tuxertal
Our hotel in Finkenberg is located near the Hintertuxer glacier in the Tuxertal valley. The Tuxertal valley is in Tyrol, Austria and is a tributary valley of the Zillertal, from which it branches off in Mayrhofen. Overall, it is ca. 13 km long and acessble via a main road.
From Mayrhofen (elev. 630 m) to the town of Tux (Tyrol) or Hintertux (1500 m), which also gives the valley its name, there is an elevation change of ca. 800 m.
The valley ends in Hintertux by the Hintertuxer glacier. The Tuxbach, which originates in Hintertux, flows to Mayrhofen, where it empties into the Ziller.

The Tuxertal is the westernmost side valley of the Zillertal
The Tuxertal is a well-developed and heavily populated side valley with a length of ca. 10 km. Here you can find the communities of Finkenberg, Vorderlanersbach, Lanersbach, Juns, Madseit, and Hintertux. The steadily rising valley runs first westward then in an arc to the southwest up to the mighty glacier of the Gefrorene Wand (3,288m) and the Olperer (3,476m), which are reachable with the Zillertal glacier lift.
